I have a old laptop it‘s use AMD K8 processor I think it can upgrade AMD K10 45nm CPU the chipset is nvidia C51M what kind of modified is need do you think of，most of C51 C61 chipset of desktop mainboard is support the K10 45nm CPU.I’m also watting for how to install an ivy bridge CPU in QM67 chipset same as X220,I hope one day you can share it. Thank you!

K8 to K10 upgrading is not worth the effort....
To install an ivb CPU on QM67 chipset, the vBIOS component certainly need to be modified. But very few people have the skill and facility

It is only your guess. System passthrough Intel Burn Test(IBT), Prime95 test without problems.

Why not use a i7-3632qm BGA version, because it is difficult to purchase an BGA cpu in Korea?
There are some samples sold on taobao.com, which costs about 770 RMB (equals 140,000 KRW), much cheaper than i7-3612qe

The main reason is that all laptops with mobile 6 series chipsets does not have the ivy-bridge cpu microcode in their mainboard BIOS, when there is no such limit on desktop chipsets.
However, a laptop DIYer on cbber.com managed to manually add microcodes of ivy-bridge cpu in the BIOS of Clevo P150HM then installed an ivy-bridge quad-core i7 on the laptop's cpu socket. The laptop booted successfully, but acted too abnormally to operate it. Obviously there must be other restriction(s) which prevent(s) user using ivy-bridge cpu on mobile 6 series chipsets, but remains unknown so far.
