Video:With real world throughput levels up to 300 Mbps PHY rate, new wireless routers and gateways featuring Atheros XSPAN technology will readily accommodate multiple high-definition (HD) streams on a single home network.
Voice:Single-antenna wireless voice handsets and legacy devices networked to Atheros-based access points achieve range and robustness from Atheros?triple transmitter architecture.

Product Overview
With the introduction of new bandwidth intensive applications and growth of Gigabit Ethernet ports, there is increasing demand for wireless LAN throughput. Featuring the Atheros AR5008E-3NG, our first 2.4 GHz IEEE draft 802.11n WLAN solution. The Atheros
AR5008E-3NG dramatically increases the overall throughput of the wireless LAN by supporting link rates as high as 300 Mbps - an improvement of nearly six times the throughput of standard 802.11g.
The AR5008E-3NG is interoperable with standard 802.11b and 802.11g devices and fully supports industry standards compliant security and Quality of Service (QoS). Full reference design support is available.

AR5008的特点是:为了实现3×3的MIMO(多路输入/多路输出)通信。在1枚芯片上集成了3个独立的无线电路。 Atheros创新的XSPAN引进讯号持续技术(Signal-Sustain Technology,SST)大幅加强讯号可靠性与覆盖范围内的数据传输量,全面释放MIMO的潜力。这一切皆因全球首颗单芯片三射频设计而获得实现。AR5008的实体数据速率为300 Mbps (每秒兆位)而实际终端使用者数据传输量可达150至180 Mbps,较2x2 MIMO系统平均多出50%的覆盖范围持续数据传输量。
讯号持续技术同时通过不同空间讯号路径进行传送,并且在接收器进行讯号处理时,同时合并来自三个接收器的资讯,因此大幅增加联机强度与数据传输量。若只是在额外的天线间切换较少的同时发射器,是无法达到这样的强度。Atheros将三组完整的射频发射链与接收链整合至单一芯片的作法,加上内建SST基频处理,以接近于强度较差而不具竞争力的2x2 MIMO方案之价格,实现无法匹敌的覆盖范围与强度。
