【原创】邮件客户端，我为何用Thunderbird

What do I think? I think you can use whatever method/client you like

In my case, I just turn off the spam check on the server side and download everything onto my pc and manually delete those I don't like. ( Currently I am checking on 4 accounts and of course they are all pop3s). There are some junks but deleting them takes only a mouse click anyway. What's the big deal? I just couldn't afford loosing a single mail at all.

Yes, I also believe everyone have their unique way of managing the emails.

In fact, I use to use the same way as you - when I have 5 pop3 mailbox, I let outlook do the filtering, but finally I give up because I don't like to have so many junk emails downloaded. Now I have only two, one gmail, one hotmail. I am considering to abandan the hotmail account and migrate all my MSN Messenger contacts to my gmail account, so that I can have all the messages together.

I saw you tried to persuade others to use a mail client, but trying to convince others is always damn difficult. Anyway, hope our discussion could give people who do not have a general idea of managing there massive emails

我现在也主要是用gmail，而gmail是不用客户端收取的，因为有notifier，我会得到及时通知，也就无所谓了，毕竟现在网速都很快。
由于用公司的邮箱，不想时刻挂念着是否有新邮件，所以才会用到客户端的。

Web-based mail does have its value, but for those who already have their own laptops and carry around all the time, why bother? Web-based mail is NOT designed for these users, IMHO.

可能是我观念还是比较老，我一般是有自己的电脑在旁的时候都会用客户端。因为一是客户端功能强大，outlook可以用word作为邮件编辑器，word可能做到的格式，内容outlook都可以做到，邮件过滤分检功能那些web-based邮箱不可能做到同样的强大。二是不怕丢信，我对现在的web应用还是不太放心，怕哪天写好的长信因为网络问题发不出去丢了，就白写了。三是用客户端信件可以统一管理。好几个邮箱的信可以收到一块保存，归档。尤其是我从上网以来换了十好几个邮箱，如果不用客户端不可能靠copy & paste保存邮件吧。哪天邮件提供商倒了你的信不全玩了。就像以前的263.net，说收费就收费，不交钱邮箱就玩完。要是不用客户端的人，里面的邮件就一样玩完了。

不过现阶段来说，两种方法同用是最高效率的。web-based是OS Independent的，没有电脑在身时，你旁边的电脑只要有浏览器你就可以看信，不过电脑上运行是windows也好，linux也好，甚至手机操作系统。

gmail的好处就是可以web和mail client同步，你在web上发信，发出的信同样也可以用mail client收到，这点实在是超有创意。这也是我觉得为什么用一个gmail就足够了的原因——实在是没有明显的缺点了。甚至用个小程序，在手机上用wap也可以登陆信箱！不过也是希望google可以直接内置wap登陆，这样就不需要去用别人的程序了，像yahoo! mail一样。

web和outlook可以做到完全的同步，我看就只有gmail一家了。
收到的信，既可以web看，也可以pop到邮件客户端。
发送的信，不管是通过web还是gmail的smtp，都可以在服务器上留下备份。

什么意思啊？没看懂。

以前一直用foxmail，比较节约资源，安全性也不错，现在试用 dreammail，还是习惯国内的email client。

  大家可以试用一下，功能很多，比较人性化，就是现阶段稳定性不如OE ，foxmail，不过foxmail好像已经不再开发了，foxmail对gmail支持得不好，n多人收不到信，这是我换掉foxmail的重要原因
