ThinkVantage Thin Installer
for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Vista(R).

Installation Readme
Thin Installer is a smaller version of System Update.
Thin Installer searches for the update packages from a repository that you create.
The repository can be created on your local hard drive, a network share,
or external media such as a CD, DVD, or USB hard drive.
When Thin Installer finishes installing applicable packages,
no registry keys relating to Thin Installer exist - thus the user only needs to
delete the folder containing Thin Installer to remove all files associated with Thin Installer and
the associated repository (e.g. zero-footprint).

- Thin Installer supports search and install updates with GUI and Commandline mode.
- Thin Installer supports modification of application settings through the configuration file.
- Thin Installer work with new format of database.xml in Update Retriever 3.0.
- Thin Installer returns "1" for specific erros and "0" for other situations.

ThinkVantage Thin Installer supports additional systems as content is
created for them.
Software requirements
=====================
The following operating systems are supported:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or higher
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 or higher
- Microsoft Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 or higher
- Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 with Service Pack 1 or Microsoft
.NET Framework version 2.0 is required for System Update to work
correctly. Use Microsoft Windows Update to ensure that Microsoft .NET
Framework 1.1 or 2.0 is installed on your system.
Downloading the package
=======================
1. Click the file links to download the files from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the
downloaded files.
Installing the package
======================
The installer is self-Extraction software, which is used as a standalone installation utility that
runs without an installation process (e.g. no registry keys or services are required).
Under Windows Vista
-------------------
1. Click Start, then click Start Search.
2. Type ThinkVantage(TVT)ThinInstaller-2008-9-24.exe in the search field, then
click Search Everywhere. This will locate the file you just
downloaded.
3. Double-click the executable icon. You might see a dialog
stating "A program needs your permission to continue." If
you see this dialog, click Continue.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Under Windows XP or 2000
------------------------
1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
2. Type ThinkVantage(TVT)ThinInstaller-2008-9-24.exe in the search field, then
click Find Now or Search. This will locate the file you just downloaded.
3. Double-click the executable icon.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
